Karai BETA 01 by The Great Matsutzu
Built using Kung Fu Man (KFM) Template Character by Elecbyte
Constructed using Fighter Factor by Virtualtek
Sprites ripped from TMNT: Tournament Fighters by Konami
Additional sprites edited by The Great Matsutzu

Compatible with: Both the last official Mugen (DOS 4.14.01) and the unnofficial Winmugen.

Disclaimer: I do not own this character. Karai is a copywright of Eastman and Laird. The ownership of the original sprites is also shared by Konami.

Bio: Karai was a member of the Foot Elite in the TMNT Comic Books, 2003 Cartoon and the original TMNT Tournament Fighters video game for the SNES. However, her story differs slightly between the three. In the SNES game, Karai is the last boss (and only appears if you have the game's setting at a certain level.) It appears that by this point, Karai has gained complete control of the Foot Elite. Karai is also appearing in the TMNT movie in 2007.

Reportedly when the Tournament Fighters game was first released, there was some controversy concerning this character. Since many TMNT fans were actually unfamiliar with her (At the time of the game's release in 1993, those who only watched the orignal cartoon show and thus never seen Karai), it was thought that Karai was actually a male character. For this, many blame the spriting (but I find that odd because I could tell it was a woman back then, and I was rather young). Well, just an interesting fact, use it as you will ^_^

What's in (Everything from the original game):
-All Basics
-Voice
-Sliding attacks of basics
-Super: Dark Thunder
-Melty Blood portrait
-Jump of wall then multipunch special
-Jump off wall then throw special
-2 standard throws
-8 Palettes, 2 from original game, 5 original, 1 "April O' Neil" palette ^_^.

What's to added::
-Additional sounds (Especially the game standard sounds such as hit impacts, etc...)
-Misc. Bug Fixes

Movelist:
Specials:
-Hover Punch and Hover Kick:
Press B, and any attack button while standing or crouching.

-Karai Punch:
While jumping, Press down and x.

-Bakuretsu Jigoku Ken (Exploding Hell Fist:):
Press y and b together (original button combination) or y and a together.
I had to add an extra button combination for this move. The original (Stroung Punch and Strong kick pressed down together) is the same attack combination as her super Dark Thunder. I found it frustrating not to be able to do this attack when the bar is filled, as since she has 3 level bars now, in simul she can almost never do it. This gives players a second option.

Karai Slam:
Press x and a (original combination) or x and b.
I added an extra combination for this, mostly because I did so for the previous attack.

Super:
Dark Thunder:
Press y and b together when Special Bar reaches at least 1.

Notes On this character:
Although currently in BETA stage, Karai has every move from the orignal game. Some things still may need refining.
-Damage values--Again, I'm not 100% sure these are correct. I may tweak them in a future update.
-AI is... well... a little weak at the moment, especially compared to her AI from the original game. As of yet, I'm not really too familiar with the inner-workings of creating a very sucessful AI (I've been worrying first about how the character plays in human hands...). Thus, she may eventually recieve somewhat of an "AI Makeover".
 - Dark Thunder looks a bit differently than it does in the original game. When the layers were removed to capture clean sprites, some of the lightening effects went with them.
-Karai is also supposed to go into the Bounce-Of Wall Move when in the air (Thank you Cray for bringing this to my attention ^_^.) As of yet I have not been able to implement this, it may be added in a future update.

Button Compatibilty:
Karai is a 4 button character, as in the original game. However, for those who like to play with 6 buttons, I've included an additional .cmd file called "6btn.cmd." To use, open the .def folder and remove the semilcolon from the front of this line:

cmd = 6btn.cmd ;(Use this .cmd if you want play the character with 6 buttons)

And then add a semicolon to the line above it, like this:

;cmd = karai.cmd ;Command set

She should then play with 6 buttons. Personally, I pefer the original, but I understand there's those out there that like to use all 6 buttons ^_~.

Thanks:
-Elecbyte, the maker of Mugen.
-VirtualTek, Without their Fighter Factory, I would be lost!
-Konami, who made the fantastic game!
-The creators of TMNT, for creating the character.
-The creators of ZSNES, a powerful emulator, without which I wouldn've been able to rip Karai's sprites as easily.
-Zophar.net, where I downloaded handy tools to for ripping Karai's sounds!
-Micheal Menne, The creator of the AnimGet program. I actually didn't have it when first was ripping her sprites, but it became an invaluable tool for finishing her up.
-Excursion, who taught me how to do Melty Blood portraits, as well as helping me trouble-shoot some of the problems I ran into.
-TiagoFrossard, who helped me figure out juggling, which corrected her multipunch jump move.
-Kong, who fixed all of Karai's sliding attacks in the .cmd so they would actually work and not interfere with the standard versions. I'd still be stuck on them. Thanks a bunch for the advice too!
-Ruben, who provided major assistance with the bounce off the wall attack (coded a little more than half of it) and gave me a lot of advice on where to go with this move (I had been stuck on it for 3 weeks). I'm in your debt! Thank you also for also hosting her on Mugen History ^_^.
-Stever76, for his helpful advice on cleaning up the throw sprites.
-Cray, For your invaluable help in Beta Testing!
-My brother, who gave me an idea that fixed a strange glitch I was having in the bounce-off-the-wall attacks. Thanks, J!
-Shouji, The writer of the TMNT Tournament Fighters FAQS/Movelist. This was essential in mapping correct button combinations for attacks.
-The Infinity Mugen Team. In addition to hosting my characters, You all have always stood by me and given me much-needed support. I can never thank you all enough for all you've done for me! ^_^
-Everyone who commented about her at both Infinity and Mugen History and to all who's supported me on the creation of this character--Thank you so much ^_^!!
-And you, for downloading.
